SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Melvin R. Nelson of McHenry, who passed 
4away on January 28, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was born on January 21, 1915 in 
6Crystal Lake; his parents were George and Rose (nee Gaebe) 
7Nelson; he married Marie C. Pepping on May 21, 1938 in Crystal 
8Lake; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson served his country in the United 
10States Navy in 1935; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was employed with the Northern 
12Illinois Gas Company for 35 years; he was also a volunteer 
13fireman in Crystal Lake for 20 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After retiring in 1976, Melvin Nelson and his wife 
15moved to Minong, Wisconsin, where he enjoyed the retirement 
16life of fishing and playing cards; they later moved to McHenry 
17to be closer to their family, and remained there for the next 
1830 years; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, 
20Marie; his parents, a brother, Robert Nelson; and a

1daughter-in-law, Connie Nelson; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Melvin Nelson is survived by 2 children, Mary 
3(Robert Miklosh) Griffin and Mark Nelson, and many nieces and 
4nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Melvin R. Nelson; and 
8be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Melvin Nelson as an expression of 
11our sympathy.
