SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dean Cornell Cunat of McHenry, who passed
4away on January 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat was born in Chicago on August 30, 1930
6to Dr. Miles and Ellen (nee Gabriel) Cunat; he married Aastri
7Midttomme at Norwegian Memorial Lutheran Church in Logan Square
8on September 20, 1952; he was a resident of McHenry for over 56
9years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat served as Executive Vice-President of
11A.N. May Builders in Richmond for 15 years; prior to
12retirement, he was Vice-President of Construction Management
13for TC Industries for 22 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat was a 25-year member of the Board of
15Directors of the former McHenry Hospital, now Centegra Health
16System, during which time he also served as Board President; he
17served on the McHenry County Board for 20 years; for several
18years, he was a member of the Northeastern Illinois Planning
19Commission, representing McHenry County; he was a 50-year
20member of the McHenry Kiwanis Club and held the office of Past
21President; he was active with the Kiwanis for the Illinois and
22Eastern Iowa Districts, where he was the Division 11 Lt.

1Governor; he was a former scout leader for the Boy Scouts of
2America and earned "Life Scout" status; he also served as
3Treasurer for the Friends of McHenry Library; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat was an avid fisherman and hunting
5enthusiast; he enjoyed traveling and was a charter member of
6Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat was preceded in death by his parents,
8and his brother, Miles Jr.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dean Cunat is survived by his wife of 62 years,
10Aastri; his 3 children, John (Dale) Cunat, Brian (Miki) Cunat,
11and Rondi (Bryan) Hauser; his 7 grandchildren, Cara, Nicholas,
12Troy (Brynn), Neena (Harrison), Wade, Jorie (Ryan), and Amie;
13and his 3 great-grandchildren, Kohl, Leah, and Griffin;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Dean Cornell, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
18friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dean Cunat as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
