SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald M. Finn of rural Virginia, who
4passed away on January 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Finn was born in McIntosh, South Dakota on
6August 7, 1919 to Robert and Charlotte "Lottie" Puckett Finn;
7he graduated from Chandlerville High School and served with the
8United States Army during World War II; he married Mary Ellen
9Trenter on May 31, 1945 at St. Luke's Church in Virginia; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gerald Finn was a longtime grain and livestock
11farmer in Cass County; he also served as an auctioneer for 47
12years, and, upon his retirement, he was the oldest practicing
13auctioneer in Illinois; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gerald Finn was a member of St. Luke's Parish in
15Virginia; he enjoyed square dancing and collecting antiques,
16and he never met a stranger his entire life; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gerald Finn was preceded in death by his wife,
18Mary Ellen; his 2 sisters, Alvenia Sinclair and Mary Decker Cox
19(John); his brother, Leo Finn (Helen); and his 2 brothers and a
20sister in childhood; and

1    WHEREAS, Gerald Finn is survived by his 5 children,
2Kathleen Lage-Meeks (Dennis), Michael Finn (Jenny Earl),
3Patricia Vincent (Tim), David Finn (Gina), and Stephen Finn
4(Gina); his 6 grandchildren, Michelle Richardson (Paul) and
5Danny, Luke, Hayden, Samuel, and Ryan Finn; his 2
6step-grandchildren, Kevin Meeks (Raquel) and Greg Meeks; his 2
7great-grandchildren; his 3 step-great-grandchildren; several
8nieces and nephews; and Jenny's daughter, Stephanie Parlier
9(Andy) and their children, Addisen and Hannah Parlier;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
13Gerald M. Finn, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Gerald Finn as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
