| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Jarvis Beattie, who passed away on |
| 4 | | March 6, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Beattie grew up in St. Louis, where she met |
| 6 | | and married her husband, Orville Carl, during World War II; she |
| 7 | | was a longtime resident of Lake Forest; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Beattie and her husband were passionate about |
| 9 | | civic, church, and community concerns, including ChildServ, |
| 10 | | the Ravinia Festival, and the Brain Research Foundation of |
| 11 | | Chicago; she was also instrumental in advancing many causes and |
| 12 | | missions and was the recipient of the Abraham Lincoln |
| 13 | | Excellence in Public Service Award in 1995; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Mary Beattie is survived by 3 children, Barbara |
| 15 | | (Rev. James) Liljegren, David (April) Beattie, and Rev. Phyllis |
| 16 | | Beattie (Dr. Francisco Gutierrez); 9 grandchildren; 5 |
| 17 | | great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; |
| 18 | | therefore, be it

| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
| 21 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Jarvis Beattie; |
