SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Jarvis Beattie, who passed away on
4March 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Beattie grew up in St. Louis, where she met
6and married her husband, Orville Carl, during World War II; she
7was a longtime resident of Lake Forest; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Beattie and her husband were passionate about
9civic, church, and community concerns, including ChildServ,
10the Ravinia Festival, and the Brain Research Foundation of
11Chicago; she was also instrumental in advancing many causes and
12missions and was the recipient of the Abraham Lincoln
13Excellence in Public Service Award in 1995; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Beattie is survived by 3 children, Barbara
15(Rev. James) Liljegren, David (April) Beattie, and Rev. Phyllis
16Beattie (Dr. Francisco Gutierrez); 9 grandchildren; 5
17great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
21family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Jarvis Beattie;

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Mary Beattie as an expression of our
4sympathy.
