| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Ralph Riley Obenchain, Jr. of Woodstock, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on November 30, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. was born on August 5, 1927; | ||||||
| 6 | he grew up in Evanston; he married his loving wife, Elaine, in | ||||||
| 7 | 1957; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. attended Northwestern | ||||||
| 9 | University; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. worked for National Cash | ||||||
| 11 | Register before embarking on a 60 year career as an investment | ||||||
| 12 | adviser on LaSalle St. in Chicago; he retired in 2008 at the | ||||||
| 13 | age of 81; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. was a longtime member of the | ||||||
| 15 | Masons; he was also a member of the ETHS golf team and the YMCA | ||||||
| 16 | Franklin Club; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. was an avid 3-cushion | ||||||
| 18 | billiard player; he could catch monster muskies, fell massive | ||||||
| 19 | elm and oak trees, lay cement, repair and refinish antique | ||||||
| 20 | furniture, and cane chairs; he had a broad knowledge of history | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and the arts, especially classical music, and was a founding | ||||||
| 2 | member of the Mozart Society in Woodstock and the Paradise | ||||||
| 3 | Point Pickerel Club; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Ralph Obenchain, Jr. was the dearly loved husband | ||||||
| 5 | of Elaine (nee Higgins); the adored father of Ralph Riley | ||||||
| 6 | Obenchain, III, Edith Obenchain (James), Samuel Obenchain | ||||||
| 7 | (Denise), Valerie McLeer, and Abigail Obenchain (William | ||||||
| 8 | Cole); the cherished grandfather of Mason, Avery, Jax, Eli | ||||||
| 9 | "Joe", Krista, Sammy, Milo, and Skyler; the brother of Gloria | ||||||
| 10 | O. Russell and Nancy Obenchain; and the son of the late Ralph | ||||||
| 11 | and Mabel; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 14 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Ralph Riley Obenchain, | ||||||
| 15 | Jr.; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Ralph Obenchain, Jr. as an | ||||||
| 18 | expression of our sympathy.
