SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Vernon L. Jensen of Woodstock, who passed
4away on February 17, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was born in Woodstock on January 31,
61927 to Forest and Edna (nee Barnard) Jensen; he attended
7Woodstock High School before serving in the United States Navy
8during World War II; he married Mary Lou Vogel on September 10,
91949 in Greenwood; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Upon his return from the Navy, Vernon Jensen
11worked with his father at Jensen's Plumbing and Heating; he
12built up the company and then purchased the business from his
13father in 1972, running it until his retirement in 1994, but
14still keeping an interest in the day to day operations; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was a lifelong member of First
16United Methodist Church in Woodstock; he was past President of
17the Lake and McHenry County Plumbing Heating Cooling
18Contractors Association (PHCC), also serving as past President
19of the Illinois PHCC; he was active in the community as a
20member of the American Legion and VFW; he was a Shriner and a
21member of the Masonic Lodge; he was lifelong Packers fan; in
22his retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Arizona with his wife

1and many friends, where he attempted to improve his golf game;
2he also enjoyed spending time at Lauderdale Lakes with friends
3and family and fishing with his wife; one of his greatest joys
4was spending time with his grandchildren and sharing in their
5accomplishments; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife, Mary Lou; his son, Craig Jensen; and his 2
8daughters, Susan and Cara Jensen; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Vernon Jensen is survived by his son, Allan
10(Kathy) Jensen; his grandson, Matthew Jensen; and his
11granddaughter, Meghan Jensen; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Vernon L. Jensen, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Vernon Jensen as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
