| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Father Marx A. Jones of Crystal Lake, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 16, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was born in Abilene, Kansas on July 29, |
| 6 | | 1926 to Nathan and Blanche Jones; he served his country with |
| 7 | | the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific; he |
| 8 | | returned home to attend the University of Northern Colorado and |
| 9 | | then Philadelphia Divinity School; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was a priest for several parishes in |
| 11 | | Kansas before settling in Illinois and serving for the |
| 12 | | congregations of St. Mary's in Crystal Lake, St. Anskar's in |
| 13 | | Rockford, St. Christopher's in Princeton, and the LaSalle |
| 14 | | County Episcopal Ministries; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Jones coached his sons' baseball teams and |
| 16 | | enjoyed golfing, story telling, and a good joke; he |
| 17 | | participated in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 34 |
| 19 | | years, Barbara (nee Prosise) Jones; his brothers, Nathan Jones, |
| 20 | | Scott Jones, and Clark Jones; his parents; and his step-mother, |
| 21 | | Marie Jones; and
