| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Elizabeth Flynn of Belleville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 19, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was born in East St. Louis on April 29, |
| 6 | | 1916 to Christina Marie and Joseph Michael Haider; she |
| 7 | | graduated from 8th grade at St. Henry's School in East St. |
| 8 | | Louis and then attended St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis |
| 9 | | for 2 years, before attending St. Elizabeth Academy in St. |
| 10 | | Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1934; she graduated in 1938 from |
| 11 | | Fontbonne College in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in home |
| 12 | | economics and dietetics; she married Harry David Lynn on |
| 13 | | November 25, 1943 at St. Joseph's Rectory in Rock Island; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After graduation, Mary Flynn worked at |
| 15 | | Jacksonville State Hospital as a dietitian, staying until 1942; |
| 16 | | she then began working at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. |
| 17 | | Louis, staying until 1943 when she began working for the St. |
| 18 | | Joseph's Parish Rationing Board; she eventually began working |
| 19 | | as a substitute teacher at Holy Angels School and St. Patrick's |
| 20 | | School in East St. Louis; she then went to work at Wurth Dairy, |
| 21 | | retiring in 1977; later in 1977, she went to work in the |
| 22 | | mailroom at Our Lady of Snows Shrine, retiring in 1997 after 20 |
| 23 | | years of service; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace |
| 2 | | Sodality, the Mothers' Club, and the Queen of Peace Funeral |
| 3 | | Luncheon Group; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Mary Flynn was preceded in death by her husband, |
| 5 | | Harry; her daughter, Mary Jo Flynn; her parents; and her |
| 6 | | siblings, Carl Haider, Genevieve Haider McGovern, Austin |
| 7 | | Haider, and Helen Haider Breslin; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Flynn is survived by her children, Patrick |
| 9 | | Michael (Thiem) Flynn, Barbara Hauck, Jerry (Luana) Flynn, Bob |
| 10 | | Flynn, Kathy (Walter) Neff, and Pat (Kevin) Fitzgerald; her |
| 11 | | grandchildren, Stephen Romanik, Kelly (Mike) Becker, Jeremy |
| 12 | | Flynn, Sean (Julie) Flynn, Julie (Jason) Reichert, Erin Flynn, |
| 13 | | Amanda (Chris) Campbell, Chris (Meredith) Flynn, Kevin (Jamie) |
| 14 | | Flynn, Mike Fitzgerald, Colleen Fitzgerald, and Brian Flynn; |
| 15 | | and her 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Mary Elizabeth Flynn, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 20 | | further
