SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward J. Starshak of Waukegan, who
4passed away on March 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak was born on February 9, 1939 in
6Chicago; his parents were Everett and Beatrice Starshak; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak spent most of his childhood in
8Lombard, and graduated from Fenwick High School in 1956; he
9subsequently graduated with honors from St. Joseph's College in
10Rensselaer, Indiana in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in
11Mathematics and obtained a Master's Degree in Economics from
12Northwestern University in 1966; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak spent his life in the teaching
14profession; he was a professor of economics at the College of
15Lake County in Grayslake for 30 years until his retirement in
162000; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak enjoyed Chicago sports, Gonzaga
18basketball, music, and reading novels; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak was preceded in death by his
20parents; his sister, Mary Ellen Adcock; his brother, Marty

1Starshak; and his sister-in-law, Sue Starshak; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Edward Starshak is survived by his wife of 41
3years, Maureen (nee Sullivan); his daughter, Kate Starshak
4(Eric Martin); his son, Chris Starshak (Kara Jakusz); his
5grandchildren, C.J. and Claire Starshak; his sister-in-law,
6Ann Margaret (Robert) Roemer; his nephews, John (Peggy)
7Starshak and Jerome Starshak; his nieces, Barbara Starshak and
8Megean Roemer; and his many cousins; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward J. Starshak;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Edward Starshak as an expression of
15our sympathy.
