| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Marie T. (nee Vilona) Wilt, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 14, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was born in Chicago on January 27, |
| 6 | | 1931; she graduated form Austin High School in 1947; she |
| 7 | | completed her graduate nursing degree at Little Company of Mary |
| 8 | | School of Nursing from 1949 to 1952 and her post-graduate |
| 9 | | obstetric nursing education at Chicago Lying-In Hospital, |
| 10 | | University of Chicago, from 1952 to 1953; she married Edward F. |
| 11 | | Wilt, M.D. on April 11, 1953 at Resurrection Church in Chicago; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt continued her obstetrical nursing |
| 14 | | experience at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit as assistant |
| 15 | | supervisor, obstetrical delivery rooms, 1953-1956; She was |
| 16 | | later employed as medical receptionist and office nursing |
| 17 | | supervisor in her husband's practice in Crystal Lake from 1990 |
| 18 | | to 1996; she was a McHenry Hospital Auxiliary member for 56 |
| 19 | | years; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt encouraged reading as Chairperson of |
| 21 | | the McHenry Library Book Club for over 17 years; she devoted |
| 22 | | time and energy to the Landmark Commission and to the Civil War |
|

| 1 | | Round Table, including administering the Edward Wilt Civil War |
| 2 | | Scholarship for McHenry County high school seniors; she was a |
| 3 | | member of the Volo Bog Association and the McHenry County |
| 4 | | Historical Society since 1965; she was also a member of the |
| 5 | | American Legion Auxiliary Unit 491 and the Ladies Auxiliary |
| 6 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600; she was active in her |
| 7 | | church; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was a Civil War 19th century historical |
| 9 | | costume re-creationist and was talented in sewing, quilting, |
| 10 | | and needlepoint, with special interest in Victorian and Civil |
| 11 | | War women's dress; she lectured about and demonstrated Civil |
| 12 | | War era nurse's and women's dresses and uniforms at many venues |
| 13 | | in McHenry County; she was a docent who attended city and |
| 14 | | school events as "living history" in Civil War era costumes, |
| 15 | | teaching children and their parents about life during those |
| 16 | | times; she was membership chairperson, program developer, and, |
| 17 | | along with her husband, a charter member of the McHenry County |
| 18 | | Civil War Round Table discussion group; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt, through her appointment to the McHenry |
| 20 | | Landmark Commission, enthusiastically and tirelessly devoted |
| 21 | | time and energy in the promotion, restoration, and preservation |
| 22 | | of historic structures, including securing funding for the |
| 23 | | Historic Petersen Farm Homestead and the historical |
| 24 | | designation of the Samantha Button house; her dream for an |
|

| 1 | | open-air museum in McHenry evolved into the Landmark |
| 2 | | Commission's "Day at Petersen Farm" - a much-loved tradition; |
| 3 | | for these contributions, the City of McHenry proclaimed |
| 4 | | November 12, 2014 as "Marie Wilt Day"; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was the ultimate mom to her 3 children, |
| 6 | | Dr. Carol Perenchio (Martin Perenchio), Timothy Wilt, M.D. |
| 7 | | (Kristine Ensrud, M.D.), and Peter Wilt (Ann Wilt), and Grandma |
| 8 | | to her 5 grandchildren, Bryan (fiancee, Karen Petsche), Evan |
| 9 | | (Kathryn) and Kathleen Darger, and Grete and Ingrid Wilt; |
| 10 | | therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 13 | | Marie T. Wilt, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 15 | | further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Marie Wilt as an expression of our |
| 18 | | deepest sympathy.
