| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Helen Diane Richart, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 10, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart was born in Chicago in 1924 to |
| 6 | | Gioacchino and Elisa (nee Spapperi) Fusciani; she attended |
| 7 | | Rezin Orr Elementary School and graduated from Austin High |
| 8 | | School in Chicago; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, After high school, Helen Richart worked in |
| 10 | | bookkeeping in downtown Chicago and was active in the Young |
| 11 | | People's Club of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church; in 1954, |
| 12 | | she married Milton Hawkins and they settled in Prospect |
| 13 | | Heights; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart was active in church and school |
| 15 | | organizations, including St. John's Episcopal Church and John |
| 16 | | Hersey High School; she also worked part-time; after being |
| 17 | | widowed in 1969, she returned to working full-time in |
| 18 | | bookkeeping; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart married Joseph Richart in 1977 and |
| 20 | | moved to Harvard; they were active in many organizations, |
| 21 | | including the Moose Club, the Northwest Sailing Association, |

| 1 | | the Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club, and the Upper Keys Sailing |
| 2 | | Club in Key Largo; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart enjoyed square dancing with the |
| 4 | | Woodstock Squares and entertaining and hosting family |
| 5 | | gatherings; she and her husband were avid sailors, often |
| 6 | | cruising on Lake Michigan and Florida Bay; they also made trips |
| 7 | | on the Mississippi and in the Caribbean; for more than 20 |
| 8 | | years, they were winter residents in Key Largo, Florida, and |
| 9 | | more recently, New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart was preceded in death by her sister, |
| 11 | | Rita Aiello; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Helen Richart is survived by her husband, Joseph; |
| 13 | | her daughter, Diane Hawkins; and her son, David Hawkins; |
| 14 | | therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 17 | | Helen Diane Richart, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 19 | | further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of Helen Richart as an expression of |
