SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Theodore "Ted" Pitzen of McHenry, who
4passed away on March 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was born on December 19, 1921 to
6Nicholas and Christina (nee Weber) Pitzen; he attended St
7John's Elementary School in Johnsburg; he married Lorraine
8Stilling on July 22, 1942; he served in the military during
9World War II with the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific
10Theater, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After the war, Ted Pitzen started Pitzen
12Plastering and operated it through the 1970s, before selling
13the business and entering the real estate business; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in the community as an
15alderman for the City of McHenry; he helped establish the
16McHenry Little League as a sponsor and coach; he served as Tax
17Assessor for the Township until 1995; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in sports, playing with the
191952 Johnsburg Tigers State baseball team champions; he loved
20golfing, fishing, and playing bridge; he was active in St. Mary
21Church and was a former board member for the Montini School;

2    WHEREAS, After the passing of his wife, Ted Pitzen married
3Dorothy (Schmitt) Bassi on December 30, 1994; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was preceded in death by his parents;
5his brothers, Laurence and Paul; his sister, Bernice; his
6daughters, Rebecca and Christianne Marie; and his grandson,
7Nicholas; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his
9children, Kathleen (Calvin) Schoon, Michael (Beverly) Pitzen,
10Patricia (Glenn) May, John (Doris) Pitzen, Theodore (Mary)
11Pitzen II, Annette (Michael) Coughlin, John Bassi, Vickie (Tom)
12Reinhardt, Chris Bassi, Mary Bassi, Amy (Dennis) Whiteside, and
13Susan (Michael) Mulligan; his 27 grandchildren; and his 11
14great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Theodore "Ted" Pitzen, and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family and friends and all who knew and loved him; and be
19it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Ted Pitzen as an expression of our
