SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edgar "Ed" McShane of Waukegan, who
4passed away on April 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was born in Waukegan on December 22,
61930 to Edgar and Dorothy McShane; he graduated from Waukegan
7Township High School in 1949 and married Betty Riehl on June
822, 1951; he graduated from the Rochester, New York Institute
9of Photo Finishing; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edgar McShane retired as Supervisor of the Great
11Lakes Navy Exchange Photo Lab on July 1, 1996; he became the
12first recipient of the Naval Resale System Worldwide Associate
13of the Year award in 1985; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was President of the Lake County Art
15League in 1990 and 1991; he was a member of Memorial United
16Methodist Church in Zion; he was very artistic and creative and
17was an award-winning photographer of nature and landscapes
18primarily in Door County, Wisconsin; he enjoyed reading,
19American Civil War history, trains, teaching Sunday school,
20sponsoring church youth fellowships, music, playing the tenor
21saxophone, camping in Door County, and exhibiting his
22photographs at art festivals in Illinois and Wisconsin; if

1anything needed "fixing", he found a way; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was preceded in death by his
3parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Edgar McShane is survived by his wife of 63 years,
5Betty; his son, Lawrence "Larry" McShane; his first cousin,
6Joan (Herman) Mullejans; his brother-in-law, Roger (Caroline)
7Riehl; and his cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Edgar "Ed" McShane, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Edgar McShane as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
