SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Generose Marie Szostak of Sedgebrook, who
4passed away on April 8, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Generose Szostak was born in Waukegan on November
624, 1929 to Narcyz "Nick" Snarski and Charlotte (nee Ratajczak)
7Snarski; she graduated from Holy Rosary School in 1943 and
8Waukegan Township High School in 1947; she married Charles
9Joseph Szostak on September 8, 1951 at Holy Rosary Church in
10North Chicago, now known as Queen of Peace Church; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Generose Szostak graduated as a court reporter
12from the Gregg Court Reporting School and began working in
13Chicago; she then worked for the family business, Ratajack's
14Confectionery Liquor store in North Chicago for 25 years, until
15in 1980; she then worked for Abbott Laboratories International
16Division, retiring in December of 1999; and
 
17    WHEREAS, After retirement, Generose Szostak volunteered at
18Habitat for Humanity Lake County, Catholic Charities for Meals
19on Wheels, and at the office helping with the money management
20program; she also served as coordinator at St. Gilbert Church
21for the Baptismal Bibs and Purificators; she was a Minister of
22Care and Eucharistic Minister and a money counter in the

1Parish; she was an AARP member and enjoyed her monthly meetings
2with her sewing club group; she moved to Sedgebrook in April of
32010 and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, as Minister of
4Care for Radford Green, for the Interfaith Council, and for the
5Catholic Council; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Generose Szostak was enjoyed participating in
7water volleyball, the fitness center, Phase 10, and Rummi Kub;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Generose Szostak was preceded in death by her
10husband, Charles; her parents; her brother, Eugene Snarski; and
11her sister-in-law, Sally Snarski; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Generose Szostak is survived by her 5 daughters,
13Rosemarie Szostak and John Johnson, Carlene Szostak and Cliff
14Lavin, Maryann and Ralph Wolf, Charlotte and Dan McLaughlin,
15and Madeline and Tom Hoge; her grandchildren, John David
16(Terry) Johnson and Johnna (Bryan) Bridges, Tim (Sherrie) Wolf
17and Joe (Kelly) Wolf, Michael and Rachael Lavin, Phillip and
18Eric Ricardo, Joseph Tyler, Thomas Peyton and William Mason
19Hoge, Carlie and Shannon McLaughlin; and her
20great-grandchildren Haley and Blake Wolf, Anna Beth and Sadie
21Bridges, and Lydia Johnson; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Generose Marie Szostak, and extend our sincere condolences to
3her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Generose Szostak as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
