SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John P. Holsten of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on April 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Holsten was born on November 24, 1925 in
6Chicago; his parents were Peter and Kathrina (nee Beckmann)
7Holsten; he married Annie Tietjen on October 23, 1948 in
8Crystal Lake; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Holsten served his country as a member of the
10United States Army Air Forces during World War II in the
11Philippines and Japan; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Holsten was a long-time businessman in
13Crystal Lake, operating the Holsten's Gulf and Holsten's Sunoco
14service stations; he later founded Holsten's Automotive; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Holsten was a member of the Crystal Lake
16Volunteer Fire Department for 9 years; he was also a member of
17Immanuel Lutheran Church; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Holsten is survived by his wife, Annie; a
19daughter, Shirley (Don) Freese; a son, Jim (JoAnn) Holsten; 5
20grandchildren, Rebecca (Larry) Nakamura, Rachel (Mike)

1Nicholson, Jessica (Derek) Loverich, and Leah and Tori Holsten;
2and 4 great-grandchildren, Calista and Dryden Nicholson and
3Matthew and Natalie Loverich; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
6family and friends, mourn the passing of John P. Holsten; and
7be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of John Holsten as an expression of our
10sympathy.
