SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Adams, who passed away on
4March 14, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Adams was born on July 5, 1925 to Joe and
6Margaret (nee Graham) Adams; he attended Warren High School and
7enlisted in the United States Army in 1945, serving as a medic
8in the Constabulary based in Southern Germany; he graduated
9from the School of Agriculture at the University of Illinois
10Urbana-Champaign in February of 1951; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Adams partnered with his father on a dairy
12farm in Wadsworth; he served as a herdsman for 2 years before
13going to Carthage College night school to get his teaching
14certificate; he taught seventh grade science at Hawthorn Junior
15High School for 24 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Adams amused his students by strolling down
17the hallway loudly singing the "Illinois Loyalty" on Fridays
18before football games; he was also remembered for a chant
19devised to help students with a definition for osmosis; he
20retired in 1988; he was one of 2 people hired by the Lake
21County Farm Bureau to be the first presenters of the "Ag in the
22Classroom" program, visiting fourth grades all over Lake

2    WHEREAS, Jim Adams loved to sing and was a long-time former
3member of the St. Gilbert's Choir; he also enjoyed gardening,
4skiing, dancing, and exercising at the Gurnee Centre Club; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Adams was preceded in death by his parents;
6his 4 brothers, Ray, Don, Lloyd, and Bud Adams; his sister,
7Margaret; and his sons-in-law, Ray Lindal and Tony Liberto; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Adams is survived by his wife of 65 years,
9Wilma (nee Pellizzari); his children, Mark, Barbara, Carol
10(Tony) Liberto, and David; his 5 grandchildren, Christina
11(Brandon) Hunter, Ian (Kasey) Liberto, and Kaitlin, Lauren, and
12Andrew Adams; and his 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15James A. "Jim" Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jim Adams as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
