| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Irene Looney, who passed away on February |
| 4 | | 12, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney was born in North Chicago on July 14, |
| 6 | | 1920 to Romanie and Alois Martens; she lived in Waukegan for |
| 7 | | many years; she married John Looney on June 30, 1964 and they |
| 8 | | moved into their new home in Gurnee in 1968; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney worked for many years at American |
| 10 | | Steel & Wire until her marriage to John; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney and her husband loved to travel; they |
| 12 | | made several trips to California, Florida, Hawaii, and numerous |
| 13 | | other states and lived for a time in Maine; they made a special |
| 14 | | trip was to Europe in 1980, where she was reunited with her |
| 15 | | Belgian family; she was proud of her Belgian heritage and |
| 16 | | coincidentally celebrated her birthday on July 14, Bastille |
| 17 | | Day; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney was a member of St. Joseph's Parish |
| 19 | | (Blessed Trinity) working in the parish registry for over 25 |
| 20 | | years, with her long-time friend Madeline Martino; she was a |
| 21 | | long-time member of The Catholic Women's Club/Lake County; she |

| 1 | | was named Woman of the Year in 1997; she made beautiful |
| 2 | | afghans, gifting them to family and friends and her pie crust |
| 3 | | was unsurpassable; she was always surrounded by friends and |
| 4 | | kept in touch, writing cards with her graceful penmanship; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney was preceded in death by her parents; |
| 6 | | her brothers and their spouses, Jerry (Florence), Elmer (Sue), |
| 7 | | and Cyril (Stella); her nephew, Elmer, Jr.; and her former |
| 8 | | husband, Charles K. Glabowicz; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Irene Looney is survived by her husband, John; her |
| 10 | | daughter, Charlene (Ray) Blais-Paulson; her son, "Chuck" |
| 11 | | Glabowicz; her grandchildren, Lynn and Charles Glabowicz; |
| 12 | | members of the Looney family: Austin, Jeanie, Bernadette, |
| 13 | | Billie (Barbara), and Father Tom Looney; members of the Martin |
| 14 | | family: nephew, Dennis (Mary Lou), niece, Joyce (Hal), JoAnne |
| 15 | | (Fred), and Dolly (Harold); members of the Glabowicz family: |
| 16 | | nieces and nephews, John (Kelly), Michael (Mary Clare), Jeanne |
| 17 | | (John), Janice, Judy (Stan), Mary (Wally), JoAnne (Ken), and |
| 18 | | Sheila (Dick), step-grandchildren: John and Robert (Lisa) |
| 19 | | Blais, and Karen, Bryan, and Harold (Cindy) Paulson; many |
| 20 | | grandchildren and great-grandchildren she "adopted" with her |
| 21 | | love; and her special cousin, Hilda Sundell; therefore, be it

| 23 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
