SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Cowen, who passed away on April
419, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Cowen was born on November 21, 1934 in
6Chicago; his parents were Irwin and Juliette Cowen; he lived in
7Arlington Heights and Barrington before returning to Chicago;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Cowen earned business and law degrees at
10Northwestern University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Richard Cowen was a lead partner in numerous law
12firms, most recently Stahl Cowen; he also served with the Board
13of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago for 20 years
14after serving for 15 years as a member and Chair of the
15Illinois State Board of Elections; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Cowen enjoyed spending time with his
17family, lyric opera, the Chicago Bears, Italy, and golfing; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Cowen is survived by his loving wife,
19Nadia; 2 sisters, Lois Roewade and Cle (Ron) Thompson; 4
20children, Lisa (Mike) Amantea, Susan Cossette, and Scott and

1Steve Cowen; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
5family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard Cowen; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Richard Cowen as an expression of
9our sympathy.
