SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph Markiewicz, D.D.S., who passed
4away on March 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Markiewicz served as a Captain in the United
6States Air Force from 1960 to 1962; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Markiewicz graduated from Loyola Dental
8School in 1960 and practiced dentistry for 50 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Markiewicz served as a North East Regional
10Board Dental Examiner for 30 years, traveling to various dental
11schools to perform board exams for the dental students; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Markiewicz swam laps at the YMCA in Skokie 6
13days a week to keep in shape and loved to go on long walks with
14his wife at the Botanical Gardens; he was a 46-year member of
15St. Mary of the Woods parish and attended mass every morning,
16helping with the Eucharist; he loved to tend to his yard, lawn,
17and garden; he loved nice cars and was a lifelong member of the
18Brookfield Zoo and the Museum of Science and Industry, which he
19enjoyed visiting with his family and friends; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Markiewicz was the beloved husband for 56

1years of Marilyn Markiewicz (nee Kaczmarek); the devoted father
2of Joel (Michelle) and John (Patti); the cherished grandfather
3of Matthew and Emily Markiewicz and Trisha Vallone; the dear
4brother of Richard (Phyllis); the fond brother-in-law of the
5late Carolyn (Raymond) Klenske; and the loving uncle of many
6nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Joseph Markiewicz, D.D.S., and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dr. Markiewicz as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
