SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul Joseph Moroney of Oak Park, who
4passed away on March 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Moroney was born on April 12, 1939 to Mary
6and Emmett Moroney and raised in the Austin neighborhood of
7Chicago; he attended St. Angela School with his siblings,
8Emmett, Rita, Fran, and Mary Lou; he then attended St. Ignatius
9High School and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati;
10he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and
11was stationed in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis;
12he married Kathleen Sheridan in December of 1962; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Moroneys returned to the Austin community in
14Chicago; they then lived in Oak Park, Elmhurst, and Oak Park
15again; while their own family grew, the Moroneys' door was
16never locked, and they were known to share their home with
17those in need; Paul Moroney was a free-thinker, an active
18member of the community, and a raconteur, with a great sense of
19humor, appreciated by all those who knew him; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Paul Moroney was preceded in death by his wife,
21Kathy and his companion, the Honorable Judge Donna Cervini; and

1    WHEREAS, Paul Moroney is survived by his children, Colleen
2Maia, Patrick (Miriam Rosa), Sheila (Ken Javor), Katie (Al
3Wolski), Michael (Elizabeth Sheehan), and Daniel (Amy
4McAuley); his grandchildren, Kenneth, Kathleen, Luke, Daniel
5and Matthew Javor, Brigette (Dan Neubauer), Maria Maia, Maggie
6and Eleanor Wolski, Megan, Anne, Liam and Clare Moroney, and
7Ryan and Grace Moroney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Paul Joseph Moroney, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Paul Moroney as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
