SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jean V. "Tootsie" Hunt-Christ of Union,
4who passed away on April 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was born in Oconomowoc,
6Wisconsin on December 13, 1946 to Robert and Joan (nee Codman)
7Kleimenhagen; she graduated from Craig High School in 1965 and
8lived in Janesville for several years before moving to
9Rockford; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ worked in in-home party sales for
11Fay Swafford Luggage and Purses and Living Home Hydroponic
12Plants, exhibiting her items at the local fairs and festivals;
13she met her companion and best friend, Karl Christ, and
14together they expanded their business to food concessions,
15first with Jean's Fine Food in 1982 and also with Horizon Food
16Service, owning and operating all the food concessions for all
17of the Northern Illinois University athletic events from 1994
18to 2006; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was a member of the Union Lioness
20Club and the Hampshire Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post
218043; she loved to spend warm sunny days on the deck at the
22farm, playing Bingo, traveling to Las Vegas, shopping, going to

1auctions, and collecting and showing antiques at the county
2fairs; she was a fabulous cook and baker, always making her
3famous Christmas cookies to share with family and friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was preceded in death by her
5father, Robert Kleimenhagen; her mother, Joan (Bill) Lund; and
6her special daughter, Stacy Parker; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ is survived by her companion of
834 years, Karl Christ; her daughter, Erika (Jason) Freund; her
9son, Brian (Patricia) Hunt; her grandchildren, Britny, Andrea,
10Zoe, Dylan Jo, Paxtyn, and Layne; her great-granddaughter,
11Aleksia; her sisters, Karen (Steven) Reed and Karla (Tim)
12Brikowski; her half-sister, Bobbie Jeanne (Jeremiah) Weber;
13several nieces and nephews; and her feline friends, especially
14Rollie Pollie; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Jean V. "Tootsie" Hunt-Christ, and extend our sincere
18condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
19her; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Jean Hunt-Christ as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
