| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Mildred I. "Millie" Best, who passed away |
| 4 | | on May 9, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Best was born on January 31, 1918 in |
| 6 | | Junction City, Kansas; her parents were Ade and Audrey Brooks; |
| 7 | | she was a former 35-year resident of Hawaii and lived in Vernon |
| 8 | | Hills for the past 15 years; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Best was a graduate of the DePaul |
| 10 | | University School of Nursing in St. Louis and a member of St. |
| 11 | | Mary of Vernon Parish in Indian Creek; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Best was preceded in death by her parents |
| 13 | | and her brother, Jimmie Brooks; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Best is survived by 3 daughters, Sue Ann |
| 15 | | Carreon, Maria Jean Reece, and Jan (Jim) Hartshorne; 6 |
| 16 | | grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 |
| 17 | | great-great-grandchildren; and her former husband and beloved |
| 18 | | friend, Glen Best; therefore, be it
