SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilfred F. Balmes of North Chicago, who
4passed away on March 13, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilfred Balmes served his country as a member of
6the United States Army during World War II; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Wilfred Balmes was a resident of North Chicago
8beginning in 1951, founding Balmes Flower Shops and
9Greenhouses, which continued through 5 generations of family
10operation; following his retirement, he retired to the hills of
11Arkansas, where he spent his time enjoying the wildlife and his
12many friends; he spent the last 3 years at Barton Senior
13Residences in Zion; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wilfred Balmes was a 4th degree member of the
15Knights of Columbus Waukegan Lodge #731; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Wilfred Balmes was preceded in death by John,
17Francis, Fredrick, Richard and Agnes Walenter; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wilfred Balmes was the beloved husband of the late
19Virginia (nee Wirtz); the loving father of Kathleen Scott, the
20late Michael (Pam), Jeanne Balmes, Julianne (Gary) Gehrig,

1Peter (Robin), and Wilfred, Jr. (Aleta); the grandfather of
2Elizabeth (Richard) Hubbard, Jacob (Michele) Balmes, Kathryn
3Balmes, Anne (Brad) Johnson, Peter (Katie) Gehrig, Drew
4(Lauren) Gehrig, Sara (Marc) Jackson, Keli (Christopher)
5Krygowski, and P. Joseph (Connie) Balmes; the
6great-grandfather of Gwen and Wyatt Balmes, Aidan, Sydney,
7Christian, and Logan Jackson, Olivia Gehrig, Caleb, Abram, and
8Noah Krygowski, and Peter Joseph Balmes, III; and the brother
9of James, Mark, Theresa Crowley, and Mary Ann (Bob) Grum;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Wilfred F. Balmes; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Wilfred Balmes as an expression of
17our sympathy.
