SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hattie Pearl Bradford, who passed away on
4May 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was born on April 1, 1937 in
6Ullin; her parents were Antonio Meals and Bessie Meals Thorpe;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford received her education at West
9Side Elementary School in Ullin and Walls Night School in
10Chicago; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was a natural homemaker who
12enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and
13politics; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford received Christ at a young age;
15she was baptized at Bell Chapel Church in Ullin; after moving
16to Chicago, she joined First Grace Missionary Baptist Church in
17Chicago; she later joined Proviso Baptist Church in Maywood,
18where she served faithfully for over 30 years until her
19illness; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was preceded in death by her

1parents; her siblings, Harry, Josephine, Wayne, Pauline,
2Justine, Cleora, Ida, Robert and Mary; her first husband,
3Alonzo Travis; and her second husband, Volney Bradford; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford is survived by 5 children,
5Jacqueline, Alonzo, Jr. (Jackie), Anthony, Victoria, and
6Ernie; 10 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6
7great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles A. Rodger
8(Pricilla); 2 sisters, Glodean E. Jackson and Mildred L.
9Skinner (Charlie); a brother-in-law, Leandrew Bradford; 3
10sister-in-laws, Viola Clark, Irean Bradford, and Varlean
11Bradford; a special niece, Toniette L. Rogers; and many nieces,
12nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Hattie Pearl Bradford;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Hattie Bradford as an expression of
19our sympathy.
