2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Hattie Pearl Bradford, who passed away on |
4 | | May 6, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was born on April 1, 1937 in |
6 | | Ullin; her parents were Antonio Meals and Bessie Meals Thorpe; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford received her education at West |
9 | | Side Elementary School in Ullin and Walls Night School in |
10 | | Chicago; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was a natural homemaker who |
12 | | enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and |
13 | | politics; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford received Christ at a young age; |
15 | | she was baptized at Bell Chapel Church in Ullin; after moving |
16 | | to Chicago, she joined First Grace Missionary Baptist Church in |
17 | | Chicago; she later joined Proviso Baptist Church in Maywood, |
18 | | where she served faithfully for over 30 years until her |
19 | | illness; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford was preceded in death by her |

1 | | parents; her siblings, Harry, Josephine, Wayne, Pauline, |
2 | | Justine, Cleora, Ida, Robert and Mary; her first husband, |
3 | | Alonzo Travis; and her second husband, Volney Bradford; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Hattie Bradford is survived by 5 children, |
5 | | Jacqueline, Alonzo, Jr. (Jackie), Anthony, Victoria, and |
6 | | Ernie; 10 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6 |
7 | | great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles A. Rodger |
8 | | (Pricilla); 2 sisters, Glodean E. Jackson and Mildred L. |
9 | | Skinner (Charlie); a brother-in-law, Leandrew Bradford; 3 |
10 | | sister-in-laws, Viola Clark, Irean Bradford, and Varlean |
11 | | Bradford; a special niece, Toniette L. Rogers; and many nieces, |
12 | | nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
15 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Hattie Pearl Bradford; |
16 | | and be it further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Hattie Bradford as an expression of |
19 | | our sympathy.
