| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of James R. "Jim" Weisenborn of Quincy, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on May 7, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jim Weisenborn was born in Quincy on October 28, | ||||||
| 6 | 1931 to Ralph C. and Estella H. Ruff Weisenborn; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from Quincy High School in 1949, where he played football for | ||||||
| 8 | the Blue Devils; he went on to play on the University of | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois football team from 1949 to 1950; he served in the | ||||||
| 10 | United States Army in France for 14 months during the Korean | ||||||
| 11 | War, and played for the 86th Regiment football team in 1952; he | ||||||
| 12 | married Mary Ann Beckman on September 4, 1954 in Quincy; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, After completing his military service, Jim | ||||||
| 14 | Weisenborn returned to Quincy, where he was a lifelong farmer; | ||||||
| 15 | he was recognized as an outstanding young farmer of Adams | ||||||
| 16 | County in 1964 by the Quincy Jaycees; he was a member and past | ||||||
| 17 | President of the Adams County Farm Bureau and was involved in | ||||||
| 18 | its political action committee; he was co-leader of the Quincy | ||||||
| 19 | Highlanders 4-H Club for 19 years; he was also a former real | ||||||
| 20 | estate agent with the Brown and Mating Realty Company and Davis | ||||||
| 21 | and Associates Realty; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Jim Weisenborn was past President of the Salem | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Church Council; he was a member of Madison Park Christian | ||||||
| 2 | Church, where he served as an elder for many years and was | ||||||
| 3 | selected as Chairman of the eldership; he also served as | ||||||
| 4 | Chairman of the building committee, taught Sunday school, | ||||||
| 5 | spearheaded a seniors ministry, and participated as a mentor to | ||||||
| 6 | many; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Jim Weisenborn enjoyed both goose and duck hunting | ||||||
| 8 | as well as hunting elk in Colorado; he collected Indian | ||||||
| 9 | artifacts and enjoyed traveling with family and friends; he | ||||||
| 10 | attended many sporting and musical events of his children and | ||||||
| 11 | grandchildren; upon retirement, he was highly involved with his | ||||||
| 12 | wife's passion for collecting antique buttons; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Jim Weisenborn was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 14 | parents, and his son-in-law, David Wand; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Jim Weisenborn is survived by his wife, Mary; his | ||||||
| 16 | 5 children, Ann (Rick) Carmack, Jack (Pam) Weisenborn, Steve | ||||||
| 17 | (Sheri) Weisenborn, Tom Weisenborn, and Susie (Jerry) Grist; | ||||||
| 18 | his 8 grandchildren; and his 10 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
| 19 | therefore, be it

| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 22 | James R. "Jim" Weisenborn, and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||

| 1 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 2 | it further
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to the family of Jim Weisenborn as an expression of | ||||||
