2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of George W. Hauth, Jr. of Marshfield, |
4 | | Missouri, who passed away on May 5, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was born in Waukegan on July 14, |
6 | | 1925 to George W. and Eugenia Hauth; he attended school at |
7 | | South School in North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High |
8 | | School; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, On October 4, 1943, George Hauth, Jr. enlisted in |
10 | | the United States Navy; he did his boot camp at the Great Lakes |
11 | | Naval Training Center before being transferred to the Fleet |
12 | | Record Office in San Francisco, California; he served aboard |
13 | | the USS General U.L. Scott and the USS Tularont in Crypto, the |
14 | | Fleet Record Office in New Caledonia, Secret Publications in |
15 | | New Caledonia, and the USS Warrick AKA 89 in Crypto; he |
16 | | received an Honorable Discharge as a Seaman First Class on |
17 | | April 13, 1946; during his service in the Navy during World War |
18 | | II, he received the Point System Medal, the Victory Medal, the |
19 | | American Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign |
20 | | Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Navy Occupation |
21 | | Service Medal; and

22 | | WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Navy, George Hauth, |

1 | | Jr. returned to Bell & Gossett Co. in Morton Grove as assistant |
2 | | foreman before venturing on his own to become a very successful |
3 | | business man; in 1952, he founded an arcade business, "Fun Land |
4 | | Arcade", in Great Lakes; a nightclub, "Two Two Lounge", in |
5 | | North Chicago; and a concession, "Helen's White Hat", at the |
6 | | North Western RR Station, Great Lakes; he was also a co-owner |
7 | | with his brother, Le Roy, of the "Friendly Tavern" in North |
8 | | Chicago; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, In 1966, George Hauth, Jr. relocated to Southern |
10 | | California with his family; in 1967, he became co-owner of |
11 | | Ceramic Form Grinding, doing work on the Minuteman Missile |
12 | | computer programs; in 1969, the business was sold to North |
13 | | American Rockwell, and, in 1970, he became founder and owner of |
14 | | Gem-Tec, Inc. in La Habra, California; at Gem-Tec, he |
15 | | manufactured computer components and guidance systems for the |
16 | | Minuteman IV, the Sperro Missile, the Patriot Missile, the |
17 | | Space Shuttle, and submarines and he manufactured various other |
18 | | computer peripheral for commercial use; he was recognized for |
19 | | his exceptional work on the Minuteman missile Program and was |
20 | | awarded entry into the Smithsonian Institute; in 1998, he |
21 | | retired and sold Gem-Tec, Inc.; in 2004, he moved to |
22 | | Marshfield, Missouri with his family; and |
23 | | WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was the first life member of the |
24 | | Masonic Lodge in Illinois; a member of Santa Ana Scottish |

1 | | Rites; a member at El Bekal Temple, Valencia Shrine in Anaheim, |
2 | | California; a life member of the Veterans of Foreing Wars in |
3 | | North Chicago; and a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club, |
4 | | and The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; he was an avid |
5 | | pool player, golfer, bowler, photographer, videographer, and |
6 | | wood smith and loved traveling in his motor home; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. was preceded in death by his |
8 | | parents; his sister, Doris Foster; and his brothers, Arthur, Le |
9 | | Roy, and Eugene Hauth; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, George Hauth, Jr. is survived by his wife of 49 |
11 | | years, Glenda (Casey); his 5 daughters, Ginger Farrens and her |
12 | | husband, Wayne, Cheryl Reigner and her husband, Charles, Diane |
13 | | Sepanski and her husband, Dave, Jacqueline Freeze and her |
14 | | husband, Pat, and Melissa Rome and her husband, Paul; her 3 |
15 | | granddaughters, Kelsey Payne, Rachel Reese, and Sarah Freeze; |
16 | | her 2 grandsons, Jeremy and Justin Sepanski; and numerous |
17 | | nieces, nephews, and many friends; therefore, be it
|
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
20 | | George W. Hauth, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his |
21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
22 | | further
