SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Cpl. Sara Medina of Aurora; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Cpl. Medina was one of 8 soldiers killed while on
5a relief mission in Nepal when the helicopter they were using
6to deliver rice and tarps to areas hit hard by the recent
7earthquakes crashed; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Cpl. Medina was serving as a combat photographer
9on the relief mission, documenting the work done by the Marines
10and the need for assistance in Nepal; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Cpl. Medina was a 2010 graduate of East Aurora
12High School, where she was a member of the East Aurora District
13131 Junior ROTC; during high school, she also did clerical work
14in a mechanic shop, but did not hesitate to get in and change
15oil or fix mufflers; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Cpl. Medina returned to her high school to talk to
17current students about the importance of getting a good
18education; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Cpl. Medina's parents are Miguel Medina and
20Cecilia Lopez and her brother is Carlos Medina; therefore, be

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Cpl. Sara Medina, and extend our sincere condolences to her
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Cpl. Medina as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
