SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas J. King of Harvard, who passed away on May 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Thomas King was born in Harvard on May 22, 1923 to Thomas and Mary (nee Gleason) King; he attended the King School and graduated from Harvard High School; he married Nitchie Ricci in Rockford on February 14, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Thomas King was the last farmer of the King family who, for the previous 155 years, have farmed on King Road; and

WHEREAS, Thomas King was a member of St. Joseph Church, a past President and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a founding board member of the Greater Harvard Historical Society, a past President of the Harvard Lions Club, a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Harvard Grange, a Hartland Township Auditor, a Pure Milk Association Delegate, and a volunteer fireman; and

WHEREAS, Thomas King was preceded in death by his wife, Nitchie; his parents; his brother, Frank King; and his sisters, Roseanne (Walter) Schultz and Irene (John) Brennan; and

WHEREAS, Thomas King is survived by his daughters, Toni King and Patricia (Daniel) McGrath; his grandchildren, Meredith and Margaux; his special friend, Velma Shriver; his brother, Roger King; and his sister-in-law, Eileen King; there was a special place in his heart for all his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas J. King, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas King as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
