SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thaddeus C. "Ted" Tyska, who passed away on May 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Ted Tyska was born in Chicago on August 15, 1923 to Francis and Harriet (nee Dobkowski) Tyska; he attended Catholic grade school and graduated from Wells High School, lettering in swimming (even swimming in the Chicago River); he joined the United States Army Air Corps and became a field lineman in the 342nd infantry, serving in France, Austria, and Germany; he received a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge among other ribbons and medals; he returned home and after a short time went back to serving his country in the Pacific Theater in the Phillipines; he was discharged as a Private First Class in March of 1946; he married Therese Mary Adamski on November 22, 1947 at St. Fidelis Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Ted Tyska attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, studying electrical engineering; he graduated from DeVry Technical Institute and went on to work at the Crane Company in the foundry and as an electrician working to start the union; he became a federal employee in the General Services Administration elevator division where he developed the Fireman's Code for elevators; he was a member of the Electrician's Union and the Federal Employees Union; and

WHEREAS, Ted Tyska enjoyed swimming at the Chicago and Crystal Lake YMCA, the Holiday Inn Club One, and the Health Bridge; he also enjoyed dancing, cooking, and pointing out nature; he also enjoyed watching TV programs about politics, nature, science, baseball, and golf; he was a member of the Church of Holy Apostles and felt that family was truly important; he was a member of the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Ted Tyska was preceded in death by his wife, Therese; his parents; his brothers, Casimer and Stan; his sister-in-law, Dorothy; and his brother-in-law, Richard Kelly; and

WHEREAS, Ted Tyska is survived by his children, Barbara, Dan (Pat), Jim (Theresa), and Tom (Vanessa) Tyska; his brothers, Edwin (Carol), Frank (Mary), and Chet (Kathy) Tyska; his sister, Maryann Kelly; his sister-in-law, Peg Tyska; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thaddeus C. "Ted" Tyska, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ted Tyska as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
