| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James W. "Jim" Bruce, Sr., who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 12, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was born on June 2, 1937 to James |
| 6 | | and Malvina (nee Hartford) Bruce; he earned his associates |
| 7 | | degree in finance; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. worked at Ceco Steel Mill for over |
| 9 | | 27 years, where he acted as President of the Steel Workers |
| 10 | | Union; he then worked for the dean's office at Hinsdale Central |
| 11 | | High School, where he later retired; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was an avid Chicago Bears fan; he |
| 13 | | enjoyed going to the casino, playing the slot machines, and |
| 14 | | playing scratch off lotto tickets with his grandchildren; most |
| 15 | | of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was preceded in death by his |
| 17 | | daughter, Marylynn Mavec, and his parents; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. is survived by his wife of 56 |
| 19 | | years, Sharon R. Bruce (nee Leiser); his son, James W. "Bucky" |
| 20 | | (Kerri) Bruce; his son-in-law, Joseph (the late Marylynn) |
