| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of George J. Kottemann of Peoria, who passed |
| 4 | | away on June 1, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Kottemann married Norma Rodems on June 29, |
| 6 | | 1952; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, George Kottemann practiced orthodontics in Peoria |
| 8 | | for 34 years; after he retired, he had a second career in |
| 9 | | forensic dentistry and served with DMORT (Disaster Mortuary |
| 10 | | Operational Response Teams) to identify disaster victims, |
| 11 | | including several weeks in New York City after 9/11; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, George Kottemann held leadership roles in a number |
| 13 | | of Peoria civic groups, including the Peoria Art Guild and |
| 14 | | Easter Seals; with his wife, he helped establish the Kottemann |
| 15 | | Gallery of Dentistry at the University of Illinois-Chicago |
| 16 | | Dental School and the sculpture studio at Bradley University's |
| 17 | | Heuser Hall; he led alumni activities at Peoria High School and |
| 18 | | the University of Illinois; he was instrumental in fundraising |
| 19 | | and planning for the sculpture "Portal", recently erected on |
| 20 | | Washington Street in Peoria; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, George Kottemann and his wife traveled |
