| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Elmer F. "Bud" Pflug, Jr., who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on June 8, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Elmer Pflug, Jr. was born in Melrose Park on | ||||||
| 6 | October 12, 1927 to Elmer, Sr. and Ruth (nee Brust) Pflug; he | ||||||
| 7 | married Marion Ann Credity in North Lake on November 14, 1953; | ||||||
| 8 | he served his country in the United States Marine Corps during | ||||||
| 9 | World War II and the Korean War; during the Korean War, he | ||||||
| 10 | participated in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, becoming | ||||||
| 11 | part of the brotherhood of the "Frozen Chosin"; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Elmer Pflug, Jr. began his career as an insurance | ||||||
| 13 | agent at the family insurance agency, Pflug & Sons Insurance, | ||||||
| 14 | where he worked for many years; after moving to Johnsburg, he | ||||||
| 15 | was employed as an engineer in the Plant Operations Department | ||||||
| 16 | of Northern Illinois Medical Center, which later became | ||||||
| 17 | Centegra Hospital-McHenry; he retired in 1993 after 15 years of | ||||||
| 18 | employment; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Elmer Pflug, Jr. enjoyed spending time with his | ||||||
| 20 | family at their house on Harris Lake in Winchester, Wisconsin; | ||||||
| 21 | his other pastimes included reading, fishing, word puzzles, and | ||||||
| 22 | playing cards; he was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Lutheran Church in McHenry; he was also a member of the McHenry | ||||||
| 2 | County Marine Corps League, where he participated in the Toys | ||||||
| 3 | for Tots program; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Elmer Pflug, Jr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 5 | parents; his wife, Marion; his sister, Gloria Schrilla; and his | ||||||
| 6 | brother, Wilbur "Bill" Pflug; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Elmer Pflug, Jr. is survived by his 4 children, | ||||||
| 8 | Kathleen (Glenn "Joe") Ponitz, Elmer "Bud" III (Julie) Pflug, | ||||||
| 9 | Cindy Pflug, and Ruth (Chuck) Mullen; his 8 grandchildren, | ||||||
| 10 | Joseph (Sarah) and Adam (Carrie) Ponitz, David (Ashley), | ||||||
| 11 | Stephen, Daniel, and Nathan Pflug, and Michael and Timothy | ||||||
| 12 | Mullen; his 6 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Ayden Ponitz, | ||||||
| 13 | Felicity and Max Ponitz, and Evie and Sarah Pflug; his cousin, | ||||||
| 14 | Eugene "Gene" Prell; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be | ||||||
| 15 | it

| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Elmer F. "Bud" Pflug, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 19 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 20 | it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to the family of Elmer Pflug, Jr. as an expression of | ||||||
