SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John "Jack" Kerwin, who passed away on
4May 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Kerwin was born on December 21, 1925 in
6Joliet; his parents were Raymond and Dorothy (nee Iverson)
7Kerwin; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Kerwin attended Joliet Township High School,
9where he graduated in 1944; after high school, he enlisted in
10the United States Marine Corps and was a survivor of Iwo Jima;
11he was a recipient of a Purple Heart for his service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Kerwin worked as a machinist at Commonwealth
13Edison for over 35 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Kerwin was a lifetime member of the Moran
15Athletic Club and a member of the Senior Citizens Association;
16he also enjoyed golfing with the Medicare League, ushering at
17St. Mary Nativity Church, and taking a stroll with his
18four-legged furry companion, Abby; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Kerwin is preceded in death by his wife,
20Margaret (nee Petrilla) Kerwin; a grandmother, Nettie Kerwin;

1his parents; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces,
2nephews, and friends; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Kerwin is survived by 4 children, Karen
4(Dale) O'Connell, Robert Kerwin, Holly Kerwin, and Mary Kay
5(Stephen) McGrath; 9 grandchildren, Kelli (Tony) Giese, Casey,
6Katie, and Kevin O'Connell, Jennifer (Bryan Kalina) and Stacey
7(Brandon Jordan) Kerwin, and Mary Grace, Margaret, and Sean
8McGrath; 5 great-grandchildren, Faith, Kobe, and Darren Jordan
9and Samantha and Elizabeth Giese; a brother-in-law, George
10(Helen) Petrilla; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Pekar and Helen
11Graf; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
14family and friends, mourn the passing of John "Jack" Kerwin;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of John Kerwin as an expression of our
18sympathy.
