SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mildred F. Pucel of Shorewood, who passed
4away on May 30, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Pucel was born in Joliet on August 23,
61923 to Joseph and Josephine (nee Setina) Erjavec; she
7graduated from St. Joseph Parochial School in 1936, St. Francis
8Academy in 1940, and the College of St. Francis in 1944; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mildred Pucel was an elementary teacher at St.
10Joseph Parochial School from 1964 to 1975 and a school crossing
11guard for the City of Joliet from 1985 to 2004; she was a
12democratic election judge in precinct #26 and a volunteer usher
13at the Rialto Square Theatre; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mildred Pucel was a member of Slovenian Women's
15Union Branch 20, where she was Mother of the Year in 1972,
16President in 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988, and Vice-President
17from 1976 to 1985; she was a charter member of the SWU Drill
18Team and a member of the Rosarian Club of St. Joseph Church,
19the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph
20Church Seniors, and St. Joseph Lodge #2 KSKJ, where she was the
211st female officer in the 100 year history and recording
22secretary from 1990 to 1991; she was also a member of American

1Legion Auxiliary Unit 1080, where she was President in 1955,
2Cantigny VFW Auxiliary #367, the Catholic High Mothers Club,
3the St. Francis Academy Alumina Association, and the College of
4St. Francis Alumni Association; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Pucel was preceded in death by her husband
6of 54 years, Rudolph J.; her parents; and her 2 sisters,
7Lucille Viola Erjavec and Olga (the late Edward) Ancel; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mildred Pucel is survived by her 4 sons,
9Christopher Michael (Julia, nee Maloney), Philip Gregory
10(Christine, nee Olson), Rudy Thomas, and Victor Joseph Pucel;
11her 4 grandsons, Eric Joseph (Courtney, nee O'Brien), Zachary
12John (Sarah, nee Ansted), Nicholas James (Stacey, nee
13Yarmoska), and Benjamin Joseph Pucel; her granddaughter,
14Rachel Anna Pucel; her great-grandchildren, Teagan, Blake,
15Andrew, and Natalie Pucel; and her siblings, Jonita Ruth and
16Ronald (Marylou) Erjavec; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Mildred F. Pucel, and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
