SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Paul Uremovic of Joliet, who passed away on June 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic was born on September 6, 1949 in Joliet; his parents were Martin Paul Uremovic and Mary Rose (nee Frankovich); and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic attended St. Patrick's of Joliet and Joliet Catholic High School; he then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War for 4 years; he was stationed in Hawaii, working on high level security communications; and

WHEREAS, After his time in the service, Anthony Uremovic earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master's Degree in Economics from DePaul University; he subsequently received his Ph.D. in Economics and Public Policy Analysis from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Anthony Uremovic served in numerous positions; he served as an Examiner on the Midwest Stock Exchange; he worked at the Joliet Federal Savings & Loan for 10 years; he also served on numerous Economic Advisory Committees; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic taught at Joliet Junior College for 20 years and served as the Chairman of the Business Department, along with being a published author; he also served proudly as Joliet's District 3 Councilman and Chairman of the Finance Committee for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic was a member of the National Association of Business Economists, American Legion Post 1080, and the Elks Club and a past member of the Knights of Columbus; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic enjoyed vacationing with his family, golfing, and being around his many loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic was preceded in death by his mother, Mary "Mame"; a sister, Marie (Dave) Hamm; and 3 brothers, Dennis, Donald, and Paul Louie; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Uremovic is survived by his loving wife, Mary Catherine "Cathy"; 2 sons, John and Michael; his father; 2 sisters, Paula (John) Laskowski and Norma (John) Vilutis; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Anthony "Tony" Paul Uremovic; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anthony Uremovic as an expression of our sympathy.
