SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Eugene D. Gunnell of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on June 12, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was born on November 15, 1925 in 
6Rock Island; his parents were David and Margaret Hancq Gunnell; 
7he married Elsie DeWulf on June 18, 1949 in Rock Island; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was a 1943 graduate of Rock Island 
9High School; he subsequently served his country as a member of 
10the United States Navy during World War II; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was employed at the John Deere 
12Harvester Works in East Moline for 39 years until his 
13retirement on May 1, 1982 as a Specification Analyst; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was a member of St. Pius X Catholic 
15Church in Rock Island; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell was preceded in death by his 
17parents; his wife, Elsie; and a brother, Frank Gunnell; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Eugene Gunnell is survived by 2 children, Julie 
19Werthmann and David (Kris) Gunnell; 4 grandchildren, Angela

1Hughes, Elizabeth Gunnell, Jennifer Santoro, and David 
2Gunnell, Jr.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Julia, Josh, 
3Isabella, Vincenzo, and Aria; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene D. Gunnell; and 
7be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Eugene Gunnell as an expression of 
10our sympathy.
