SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph S. Munos, who passed away on June
426, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Munos was born on January 31, 1926 in
6Moline; his parents were Ysabel and Victoria Montecino Munos;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1944, at the age of 17, Joseph Munos
9voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; he was
10honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1946; he was
11called back to serve in 1950 to fight in the Korean War and was
12again honorably discharged in December of 1951; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Joseph
14Munos settled with his wife and children in Yuma, Arizona,
15where he worked and traveled as an employee for the United
16States Department of Defense; in 1968, he served a 9-month tour
17of duty in Vietnam as a civilian; he then continued to work for
18the Department of Defense, which included an assignment at the
19Rock Island Arsenal, until 1980, when he retired and moved to
20Phoenix, Arizona; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joseph Munos is survived by 8 children; 21

1grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mary
2Ramirez and Sara Fields; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
5family and friends, mourn the passing of Joseph S. Munos; and
6be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Joseph Munos as an expression of our
9sympathy.
