2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joseph S. Munos, who passed away on June |
4 | | 26, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Munos was born on January 31, 1926 in |
6 | | Moline; his parents were Ysabel and Victoria Montecino Munos; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, In 1944, at the age of 17, Joseph Munos |
9 | | voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; he was |
10 | | honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1946; he was |
11 | | called back to serve in 1950 to fight in the Korean War and was |
12 | | again honorably discharged in December of 1951; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Joseph |
14 | | Munos settled with his wife and children in Yuma, Arizona, |
15 | | where he worked and traveled as an employee for the United |
16 | | States Department of Defense; in 1968, he served a 9-month tour |
17 | | of duty in Vietnam as a civilian; he then continued to work for |
18 | | the Department of Defense, which included an assignment at the |
19 | | Rock Island Arsenal, until 1980, when he retired and moved to |
20 | | Phoenix, Arizona; and

21 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Munos is survived by 8 children; 21 |
