SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frances A. Larsen of McHenry, who passed
4away on June 17, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was born in Hanna, Indiana on April
618, 1926 to Calvin and Eva Thomas; she was later adopted by
7Merritt and Alice Metz; she married Otto Larsen on June 30,
81951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was reported to be the first female
10meter reader in the state of Indiana; she was an Illinois Bell
11phone operator in Champaign-Urbana and customer service
12representative in McHenry until 1962; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was an avid gardener, cook, and the
14self-proclaimed "Mayor of Riverside Drive"; she served on the
15McHenry District 15 School Board for 13 years and was one of
16the founding members of McHenry's Pigtail League; when she and
17her husband first arrived in McHenry, they were active McHenry
18Little League contributors; she was a member of the McHenry
19County League of Women Voters, the Order of the Eastern Star,
20and the Historical Society; she also volunteered her time with
21P.A.D.S. and was an election judge official for many years; and

1    WHEREAS, Frances Larsen was preceded in death by her
2husband, Otto; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Frances Larsen is survived by her 3 adopted
4children, Hans (Janet), Fritz, and Greta (Joseph); her
5grandchildren, Emily and Otto Krueger; and her sisters, Mary
6Evers and Lucy Finch; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Frances A. Larsen, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Frances Larsen as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
