SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elliott "Buck" Wheeland, who passed away
4on July 5, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elliott Wheeland was born in Geneva on August 6,
61926 to Clara and Harry Wheeland and grew up in West Chicago;
7he served in the United States Navy during World War II and
8married Jeanne Kral on August 9, 1952; he received a degree in
9education at Northern Illinois Teachers College and continued
10his education at Northern Illinois University, earning a
11master's degree; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Elliott Wheeland started his teaching career in
131950 at McHenry High School; he transferred to Crystal Lake
14High School in 1956 and later taught at Cary Grove High School
15and Crystal Lake South, retiring in 1985; he loved teaching and
16peppered his lessons with wit and wisdom; he also coached
17wrestling and football; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Elliott Wheeland was a passionate reader and in
19retirement volunteered at the Crystal Lake Library; he also
20volunteered for 15 years at the Sage Cancer Center at Centegra
21Hospital in McHenry; he enjoyed fishing all his life and was
22also a life-long Chicago Cubs fan; and

1    WHEREAS, Elliott Wheeland was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Elliott Wheeland is survived by his wife, Jeanne;
4his daughters, Linda (companion Eric Schlaf), Kathy (Jim) Lutz,
5Nancy (Ron) Partch, and Laura; his granddaughters, Carly (Ryan)
6Anderson, Melissa Lutz, and Lauren Partch; his brother,
7Richard; and his sister, Lois Hanrahan; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Elliott "Buck" Wheeland, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Elliott Wheeland as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
