SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of June Brotherton Reed of Woodstock, who
4passed away on July 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, June Reed was born in Medina, Ohio on June 21,
61937 to Dorothy (nee Starner) Brotherton Trego and Carlyn Delno
7Brotherton; she was very involved in music at school and
8participated in state solo competitions along with singing in a
9sextet called the "Melodears" and various other choir groups;
10she married Jim Reed in August of 1958; and
 
11    WHEREAS, June Reed was a stay-at-home mom for 17 years; she
12also sold real estate for 21 years and helped with babysitting
13her 3 grandsons for over 6 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, June Reed was a long-standing member of First
15United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake and was actively
16involved with various areas of the church life; she was a
17member of a small group and was a prayer warrior for Stephen's
18Ministry; she sang in the choir for many years and served in
19numerous groups; she completed a 7-year Bible study fellowship
20program and held Bible study in her home for many years; she
21enjoyed singing, playing bridge, cooking and entertaining,
22traveling, and studying the Bible; she especially enjoyed the

1Birthday Club, Birthday Girls, and Door County; at the very top
2of her list of things she loved to do was spending time with
3her grandkids, family, and friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, June Reed was preceded in death by her parents;
5her brother, David Brotherton; and her sister-in-law, Patricia
6Reed; and
 
7    WHEREAS, June Reed is survived by her husband, James; her
8son, Scott Reed and his wife, Leza; her son, Jeffrey Reed and
9his wife, Bridgette; her daughter, Jill (Reed) and her husband,
10Lawrence Farino; her daughter, Julie (Reed) Rowe; her
11grandchildren, Sierra and Nash Reed and Anthony, Nicholas, and
12Tyler Farino; her sister, Karen (Brotherton) and her husband,
13Roger Plaster; her brother-in-law, Joseph Hanes Reed; her
14sister-in-law, Marianne Brotherton; and her loving dog,
15Gracie, who was at her side for many years; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18June Brotherton Reed, and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of June Reed as an expression of our
