SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles S. Olsen of Richmond, who passed
4away on July 13, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was born on July 6, 1929 in
6Ringwood; his parents were Elmer and Emily (nee Beatty) Olsen;
7he married Mildred "Millie" Howe on October 19, 1958 in Redwood
8Falls, Minnesota; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a graduate of Richmond High
10School in 1947, graduating fourth in his class; he was also a
11member of the National Honor Society; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a dairy farmer; he farmed with
13his dad for several years before farming in partnership with
14his brother for many years until his retirement in 2009; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen was a member of Ringwood United
16Methodist Church in Ringwood and served as a trustee of the
17church and on various committees; he was a member and president
18of the McHenry County Farm Bureau from 1989 to 1991; he drove a
19school bus for the Richmond-Burton School District for 18
20years; he also served on the Richmond Grade School Board for 6
21years in the early 1970s; and

1    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen served in the United States Army in
2the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal; he participated
3in VetsRoll.org in May of 2015; he was also a member of Paul C.
4Hoffman American Legion Post #253; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Olsen is survived by 3 daughters, Ann
6(Juhani) Puistolahti, Amy (Rob) Olson, and Irene Olsen; a son,
7Alan (Judy) Olsen; 7 grandchildren; and a brother, Del (Donna)
8Olsen; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles S. Olsen; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Charles Olsen as an expression of
15our sympathy.
