| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Albert A. "Alby" Adams of McHenry, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on July 14, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Alby Adams was born in Johnsburg on November 12, | ||||||
| 6 | 1929 to Otto and Coletta (Freund) Adams; he graduated from | ||||||
| 7 | McHenry High School in 1947 and attended the School of Aviation | ||||||
| 8 | at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana; he was united | ||||||
| 9 | in marriage with Dorothy Van Ort at St. Joseph Catholic Church | ||||||
| 10 | in Summit on May 5, 1951; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Alby Adams was the former owner of Adams Repair in | ||||||
| 12 | Johnsburg and Adams Lawn & Leisure in McHenry; from 1973 until | ||||||
| 13 | 1981, he served as the McHenry Township Clerk, and from 1981 | ||||||
| 14 | until May of 1998, he served as McHenry Township Supervisor; in | ||||||
| 15 | recognition of his distinguished service, the Albert A. Adams | ||||||
| 16 | McHenry Township Park was formally named after him on May 14, | ||||||
| 17 | 1998; he was dedicated and active in many civic and fraternal | ||||||
| 18 | organizations during his lifetime; he was a founding member of | ||||||
| 19 | the Johnsburg Community Club, a founding member of the | ||||||
| 20 | Johnsburg Rescue Squad in 1952, and an organizer and founding | ||||||
| 21 | member of McHenry Township Fire Protection District Company | ||||||
| 22 | Two; he also served as a board member of Johnsburg School | ||||||
| 23 | District 12 and a member of the McHenry County Board; and | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Alby Adams was a member of the Knights of Columbus | ||||||
| 2 | Council 1288 and was a 4th degree Knight with the Bishop Boylan | ||||||
| 3 | Assembly; he was a member of the McHenry Moose Lodge 691, where | ||||||
| 4 | he served as past Governor and also received the Fellowship | ||||||
| 5 | Degree of Honor in recognition for outstanding service to the | ||||||
| 6 | lodge and fraternity; he was recognized for bringing in the | ||||||
| 7 | most new members in a single year; other memberships included | ||||||
| 8 | the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 188, the National | ||||||
| 9 | Republican Committee, and the National Rifle Association, | ||||||
| 10 | where he held a lifetime membership; he was a founding member | ||||||
| 11 | and the first President of the McHenry Sno-Birds Snowmobile | ||||||
| 12 | Club, where he was instrumental in working out agreements with | ||||||
| 13 | area farmers for snowmobiles to ride across their land and | ||||||
| 14 | obtained State funding for the construction of a snowmobile | ||||||
| 15 | (and sledder) warming shelter in the township park bearing his | ||||||
| 16 | name; he regularly enjoyed snowmobiling with his wife; he also | ||||||
| 17 | enjoyed flying, and throughout the years, he piloted a Cessna | ||||||
| 18 | 152, 172, and 182 aircraft out of Galt Airport; other | ||||||
| 19 | enjoyments included playing cards, hunting and fishing, and | ||||||
| 20 | singing karaoke; he also was a fan of midget auto racing; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Alby Adams was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 22 | and his brother, Carl; and
| ||||||
| 23 | WHEREAS, Alby Adams is survived by his wife of 64 years, | ||||||

| 1 | Dorothy; his 6 children, Larry Adams, Gary (Julie) Adams, Linda | ||||||
| 2 | (Tom) Tegtmeier, Kate Heald, John (Margaret) Adams, and Tim | ||||||
| 3 | (Kellee) Adams; his 20 grandchildren, Becky, Katy, Larry, | ||||||
| 4 | Stephanie, Ian, Tom, Brian, Sarah, Emily, Kim, Christina, | ||||||
| 5 | Carissa, Ryan, Jason, Vinny, Danny, Katie, Nicky, Scott, and | ||||||
| 6 | Brittney; his 6 great-grandchildren, Miles, Tommy, Anderson, | ||||||
| 7 | Mary, Kendra, and Graham; and his brother, Joel (Sally) Adams; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it

| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Albert A. "Alby" Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 12 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 13 | further

| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Alby Adams as an expression of our | ||||||
| 16 | deepest sympathy.
