SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Edith "Pat" Murphy of Mount
4Prospect, who passed away on July 14, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Murphy was born on October 29, 1928 to Judge
6Frank M. and Mae Rogers Padden and grew up in Rogers Park; she
7graduated from Marywood High School in 1946 and Mundelein
8College in 1950; she married Judge Gerald S. Murphy in 1952 and
9they settled in Evanston; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pat Murphy taught school in the Chicago public and
11Catholic school systems; she gave up her teaching career in
121956 to devote full time to her family, but as her children
13grew older she worked for 18 years at Glenview State Bank;
14after retirement, she helped home-school her grandchildren, a
15third career of which she was most proud; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Pat Murphy was an active member of St. Alphonsus
17Catholic Parish; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Pat Murphy was preceded in death by her parents;
19her husband, Gerald; her sister, Mary Frances Preib; and her
20brother, Roger Meyers; and

1    WHEREAS, Pat Murphy is survived by her 5 children, Gerald
2S. Murphy, Jr., M.D., Rev. Francis J. Murphy, CSC, Commander
3Patrick J. Murphy, USNR-Ret. (Sue Min Lai), Daniel J. Murphy,
4Esq., and Mary Elizabeth Murphy (Mark Hackler), and her 7
5grandchildren, Meghan, Brendan, and Conall Murphy and Dylan,
6Rachel, Julia, and Sophia Hackler; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Patricia Edith "Pat" Murphy, and extend our sincere condolences
10to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Pat Murphy as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
