SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John D. "Jack" Ahern, who passed away on
4August 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Ahern was born on June 10, 1929 in Chicago;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Ahern served his country as a member of the
8United States Army during the Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Ahern retired after many years of service as
10Captain of Chicago Fire Department Engine 28; he also served as
11Deputy State Fire Marshal; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Ahern was preceded in death by his parents,
13CFD Battalion Chief Daniel and Nora (nee Murphy) Ahern; a son,
14Michael (Susan) Ahern; and 5 sisters, Peg Ahern, Mary
15McDermott, Norene "Tabby" Pohl, Kate Gourley, and Betty
16Coleman; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Ahern is survived by his loving wife, Linda
18(nee Allegretti) Ahern; 6 children, Mary (Jim) Klasen, Daniel
19(Terry) Ahern, Tom (Julie) Ahern, Ellen Ahern, Peg (Bob)
20Frazier, and Patrick Ahern, CFD; 3 step-children, Deana Regan,

1William (Stephanie) Diesing, and Toni (John) Taylor; 16
2grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
5family and friends, mourn the passing of John D. "Jack" Ahern;
6and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of John Ahern as an expression of our
9sympathy.
