SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lorene Hull, who passed away on July 31,
42015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was born on November 16, 1919 in
6Ponca, Nebraska; her parents were William Harvey and Stella
7Bridgford Bottorff; she married William Henry Hull on June 1,
81942 in Ponca, Nebraska; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull grew up and graduated from high school
10in Ponca, Nebraska; she began her teaching career in a one-room
11schoolhouse; she later progressed to a 2-room school; she later
12attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and
13graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana,
14where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education, followed
15by a master's degree plus 60 hours; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was a homemaker when her children were
17young, which included teaching Sunday School and the Ladies Aid
18at Grace Lutheran Church in Champaign; she also made flower
19arrangements from their garden and countless meals for both
20joyous and sad occasions for friends and neighbors; when her
21children were older, she returned to teaching at Leal School in
22Urbana; she taught primary grades for 14 years and wrote

1materials to help teachers teach reading which were published;
2the royalties went to buy musical instruments, first for her
3own children and later for students or other children she knew;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull served as a volunteer at the Champaign
6County Nursing Home; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull was preceded in death by her husband,
8William; her parents; a brother; and a daughter, Marilee; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lorene Hull is survived by 2 children, William
10Dean Hull (Laura) and Marcia Hull Licquia (Jim); 3
11grandchildren, Heather Hull, Daren (Virna) Hull, and Dawnetta
12(Christopher) Po; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy,
13Jillian Hull, Parker Hull, and Julia Po; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Lorene Hull; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Lorene Hull as an expression of our
20sympathy.
