SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Henry Meehan, who passed away on August 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Meehan was born on July 28, 1929 in Bunker Hill; his parents were Thomas David, Sr. and Amelia (nee Decker) Meehan; he married Leona Heuer on January 7, 1951 in Bunker Hill; she passed away on November 5, 2007; he married Phyllis Massick on April 28, 2012 in Michigan; and

WHEREAS, Robert Meehan was the owner and operator of Meehan's Grocery in Bunker Hill and Bethalto; and

WHEREAS, Robert Meehan was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto; he was a 4th Degree Knight, a Grand Knight, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Bethalto; he was also a Winter Texan and a member of the Sit and Chat Club for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Meehan was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Leona; and 4 siblings, Thomas Meehan, Jr., Kathleen Spellman, Eileen Bode, and Rosemary Hubach; and

WHEREAS, Robert Meehan is survived by his wife, Phyllis; 3 daughters and their spouses, Diane (Tom) McKaig, Debbie Meehan (Deb Bertinetti), and Denise (Greg) Bruckert; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Bret (Melissa) McKaig, Kasey McKaig, Kristopher Bruckert, and Kelsey (Justin) Hamilton; 3 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Brady McKaig and Amelia "Mia" Hamilton; a brother-in-law and his wife, Kenneth (Judyth) Heuer; several nieces and nephews; and his many extended family members; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Henry Meehan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Meehan as an expression of our sympathy.
