SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mark D. Durkee of McHenry, who passed
4away on August 1, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was born on March 9, 1920 in Alden;
6his parents were Edward J. and Elizabeth (nee Bailey) Durkee;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was raised and worked on the family
9dairy farm in Hebron; he then worked at the Starline Factory as
10a punch press operator before working in road construction in
11Chicago, which he did for many year until his retirement; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In the 1940s, Mark Durkee was a member of the
13Civilian Conservation Corps Camp; he enjoyed deer hunting,
14fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune, getting exercise at
15Walmart, watching the squirrels in the trees, and cats; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was preceded in death by his parents;
17his companion of 59 years, Elsie Fay Rust; 5 brothers, John,
18Paul, Harvey, George and Francis; a sister, Mary Motley; and a
19nephew, Dennis Durkee; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mark Durkee is survived by his grandchildren,

1Larry (Jane) and Dennis (Chris) Long, Linda (Richard) Kennedy,
2Chris and Kelly (Deia Witz and Macy) Jones, Jamie (Eric) Brehm,
3Mike, Steven, and Mark Vanlue, and Lisa Whorton; and his nieces
4and nephews, Gene (Evie) Motley, Tom (Debbie) Durkee, Gerald
5and Richard (Fran) Durkee, Gary and Gail Motley, Margie
6(Dennis) Vedder, JoAnn (Charles) Head, Betsy (Harold) O'Mara,
7Laurna and Derrick, Beverly (Jim) Mikoda, and Barbara Schepers;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Mark D. Durkee; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Mark Durkee as an expression of our
15sympathy.
