| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Maria A. E. Heiser of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 4, 2015; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Maria Heiser was born in Berlin, Germany on May 2, |
| 6 | | 1937 to Heinrich and Margarete Kottusch; following World War |
| 7 | | II, she and her family settled in East Berlin; her family |
| 8 | | escaped to the west shortly before the construction of the |
| 9 | | Berlin Wall; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Maria Heiser emigrated with her daughter to Cary |
| 11 | | in 1964 and married Robert J. "Bob" Heiser; they settled in |
| 12 | | McHenry in 1969; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Maria Heiser began working at McHenry High School |
| 14 | | (East Campus) in 1970, managing the Language Lab; she then |
| 15 | | worked for the McHenry Medical Group and Kemper Insurance; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Maria Heiser spent much of her time at her |
| 17 | | typewriter, initially crafting stories and poetry in both |
| 18 | | English and German, much of which was semi-autobiographical; |
| 19 | | she was most proud of self-publishing "About People and |
| 20 | | Things", a book of her poetry; she later became a prolific |
| 21 | | letter writer; and |
