SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Bill O'Donnell of Rockford, who passed 
4away on August 22, 2015; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill O'Donnell was born on August 21, 1926; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill O'Donnell worked as a civil engineer by 
7trade, building roads, ramps, and bridges; he owned the 
8Gregory-Anderson Company; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill O'Donnell was inducted into the Order of St. 
10Gregory the Great of the Roman Catholic Church in 1998 and was 
11a recipient of the first Rockford Register Star Excalibur Award 
12for community service in 1971; he accompanied Admiral Richard 
13Byrd on an expedition to Antarctica and was a pilot, sailor, 
14and hot air balloonist; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Bill O'Donnell was affectionately known as "The 
16Great Connector"; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL 
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
19Bill O'Donnell, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
