SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William J. "Bill" Peterson of Rantoul,
4who passed away on July 28, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Peterson was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
6on June 30, 1949 to William J. and Elizabeth (nee Schofield)
7Peterson; he married Cheryl Nelson on September 12, 1970; he
8served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam
9War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Bill Peterson
11worked as a civilian at Chanute Air Force Base, repairing the
12trainers that were used to train active-duty U.S. Air Force
13personnel; for the last 20 years, he was a boiler room
14operator; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Peterson was affectionately known as "Billy"
16or "Pete"; he enjoyed bowling and fishing in his younger years
17and was always working on his car, washing and waxing it by
18hand; he had a passion for cooking and making people happy
19through the food he made; most of all, he loved spending time
20with his family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bill Peterson was preceded in death by his

1parents, and his sister, Sharon Peterson; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bill Peterson is survived by his wife of nearly 45
3years, Cheryl; his daughter, Christine (Troy) Bergman; his son,
4Erik (Beth) Peterson and their children, Leslie, Hannah, and
5Jonah; his sister, Sandra Thornton; his 2 brothers, Mike
6(Jeannie) Peterson and Pat (Leslie) Peterson; and many nieces
7and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William J. "Bill" Peterson, and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bill Peterson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
